Do you want to give up smoking? Is this your first attempt or have you tried and failed? Wouldn’t it feel great to call yourself a NON-SMOKER? To finally not be at the mercy of a packet of cigarettes? If the answer to any one of these questions is yes “I want to give up smoking”, book a free no obligatory consultation.
A common misconception about smoking – “smoking reduces my stress levels”
This is by far the biggest misconception held by smokers. People smoke cigarettes to relax and feel good but cigarettes are chemical stimulants just like caffeine. And after a brief, momentary period of feeling relaxed, cigarettes actually cause stress and agitation despite you believing that you feel relaxed.
There are a couple of things at play; one of these being a dependence on nicotine. Secondly, numerous studies have shown that smoking is known to increase cortisol levels (a stress hormone), as well as other stress hormones. According to Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) of the American Psychiatric Association (APA), heart rate and muscular tremors, both associated with physiological stress, are increased in 90% of smokers. In your session, you will see evidence of this, plus more.
